District Names New Corona del Mar High School Principal
Kathy Scott, Corona del Mar High School's newly selected principal, comes from Anaheim's Oxford Academy.

A school administrator from Anaheim Hills has been selected as the new principal of Corona del Mar High School, the Newport-Mesa Unified School District announced Friday.
Kathy Scott, who has spent the last seven years as principal of Oxford Academy in the Anaheim Union High School District, was chosen after a recruitment process which included input from parents, staff and community members and a district interview process.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve with such a strong and committed school community as Corona del Mar High," Scott said in a released statement. "My hope is to collaboratively lead the CdM teachers and students to the next level of greatness.”
The district's Board of Education is scheduled to approve Scott's position on Tuesday. Laura Boss, district spokeswoman, said Scott's official start date has not yet been determined.
"The input received from the CdMHS community was used to guide the interview process and resulted in identifying Kathy Scott as the leader who
best meets the needs of the school," Boss said.
Oxford was ranked in 2012 as the highest school in California with an API score of 995, according to Boss. Scott spent 18 years in the classroom and has been an administrator for 16 years.
Scott graduated from Texas Tech University and received her master’s degree in administration from the University of the Southwest. Scott lives in Anaheim Hills with her husband.
