Harbor View Principal Retires to Care for Ailing Father
Charlene Metoyer announces the end to her 24 years of teaching in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. The community is asked to help with the search for the school's new principal.

Harbor View Elementary School Principal Charlene Metoyer will retire at the end of the month in order to take care of her ailing father, she announced Tuesday.
Metoyer, who has been an educator and administrator for 28 years, 24 of which were in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District, will retire effective Aug. 31.
"After an anxious summer with him, I made the difficult decision to focus on him full time and retire from education," Metoyer wrote in an email to parents and staff. "I always balanced professional and personal goals, and Harbor View has been a great support for me during this time. It is now time for that balance to move from more professional to more personal."

With the new school year right around the corner, Mary Manos, a retired/former principal at Andersen Elementary School will be serving as the school's interim principal. The N-MUSD is also asking for input from the Harbor View School community regarding the qualities and attributes they would like to see in the next principal.
To begin the principal search process, a community forum to be held in the Harbor View Multi-Purpose Room on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. An online survey is also available at here.
