Indulge it's National S'mores Day

Unique recipes to celebrate National S'mores Day in Newport Beach.

S'mores have traditionally been linked to bonfires, but there are plenty of other ways to enjoy the sweet summer treat.

To celebrate National S'mores Day, Taste of Home Magazine is sharing some recipes that offer a little variety from the classic s'more recipe. The Peanut Butter S'mores Recipe was whipped up by Lillian K. Julow, of Florida.

“This is what I depend on when dessert is a last minute thought,” Julow told the magazine.

Here's what you need:

  • 8 large chocolate chip cookies
  • 4 teaspoons hot fudge ice cream topping
  • 4 large marshmallows
  • 4 peanut butter cups

  • Spread the bottoms of four cookies with fudge topping.
  • Using a long-handled fork, grill marshmallows 6 in. from medium-hot heat until golden brown, turning occasionally. Carefully place a marshmallow and a peanut butter cup on each fudge-topped cookie; top with remaining cookies. Serve immediately.
