Man Arrested for Alcohol-Related Boating Accident in Newport
Another person on board was taken to Hoag Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A sport fishing boat encountered some trouble early Sunday in Newport Beach, resulting in one arrest and one person being taken to a hospital, a fire offiical reported.
The boating accident was reported about 2:22 a.m. at Prospect Street, according to Jennifer Schulz, spokeswoman for the Newport Beach Police Department. Two people were on board the 38-foot Meridian Sports Fisher, which authorities found aground and in the surf line.
Police arrested Adam Bryce Edwards, 25, of Huntington Beach, at the scene and charged him with boating under the influence and resisting arrest. Another person was transported to Hoag Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Lifeguards inspected the vessel for damage and seaworthiness. Once it was determined to be seaworthy, lifeguards secured a towline from the vessel to OC Sheriff Fire Boat 1 and the vessel was removed from the beach and taken undertow," Schulz said.
The boating accident is under investigation by police and the Orange County Sheriff's harbor patrol.
