Man Guilty Of Sexually Abusing Female Relative In Costa Mesa: Courts

A 37-year-old man was convicted Wednesday of sexually assaulting a female relative starting when she was 4 until she was 16.

COSTA MESA, CA — A 37-year-old man was convicted Wednesday of sexually assaulting a female relative starting when she was 4 until she was 16 in Costa Mesa.

Sergio Arroyo Miralrio was convicted of two counts of lewd acts on a minor younger than 14, four counts of sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child 10 or younger, a count of oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 or younger, three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child younger than 14, and two counts of rape, all felonies.

Miralrio was scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 21.

The defendant met the girl when she was 3 and started attacking her when she was around 4 years old, police said. The abuse continued until she was 16 in 2019, police testified.
