Police Prepping CDM for Obama Visit
Street closures will be in effect as President Obama has breakfast with supporters Thursday at a Corona del Mar home.

Newport Beach police are working on traffic preparations today to accommodate the visit of President Obama this week to Corona del Mar.
On Thursday Obama will be the guest of honor at a 7 a.m. private breakfast at the Evening Canyon home of Jeff and Nancy Stack, according to barackobama.com. Newport Beach police say there will be some streets closures in effect and residents should anticipate some delays as the presidential motorcade rolls in and out of the village.

- There will be no parking or vehicular traffic allowed Thursday between 6 a.m. and noon on Seaward Road, Driftwood Road, Evening Canyon Road, Morning Canyon Road and Shorecliff Road.
- East Coast Highway will remain open on Thursday.
- Other streets that could be affected by traffic are Newport Coast Drive, Jamboree Road, Macarthur Boulevard and San Joaquin Hills Road.
Along with the street closures, trash pickup in the area will occur between 5 and 7 a.m. and residents are being asked to move trash cans back onto their property by 7 a.m. Police also say the department plans to have extra law enforcement officials on the streets.
"We will have extra officers on duty that morning," said Kathy Lowe, spokeswoman for the Newport Beach Police Department. "However we do not provide deployment numbers as a matter of operational security."

Tickets for the Obama Victory Fund 2012 event are selling for between $2,500 and $35,800, with proceeds benefiting President Obama's reelection campaign.
Mayor Nancy Gardner says Thursday will be an exciting day in Newport Beach and hopes President Obama will visit again.
"I welcome the president," Gardner said. "Since I've seen pictures of him bodysurfing, I'd suggest he come back when we have a good south swell and take advantage of the Wedge or one of our other good breaks."
