Pelican Hill Resort Applauded for Eco-Friendliness
Golf Magazine honors the resort for leading the way in resource conservation and environmental protection.

It's been recognized as one of the most luxurious resorts in the world, now The Resort at Pelican Hill is being honored for its commitment to helping protect the environment.
Golf Magazine recently named Pelican Hill as an Eco-friendly Green Hall of Fame Award winner with a Green Resort Award for leading the way in resource conservation and protection.
“The Resort at Pelican Hill strikes a chord, due to its inspired emphasis on water conservation and management, something of critical importance everywhere, especially in the western U.S.," Joe Passov, the magazine's senior editor, said in a released statement. "On-course weather stations, new fairway grasses and planters that act to filter storm water are among the highlights. Kudos, Pelican Hill!”

Pelican Hill officials say the resort conserves more than 50 million gallons of water each year thanks to its irrigation system. The resort also reduces the amount of debris and contaminants in the water, and captures and recycles runoff through its five underground rainwater runoff collection cisterns.
“As stewards of one of California’s most beautiful stretches of coastal land, we’re proud to be recognized among the nation’s leading green golf resorts,” said Steve Friedlander, vice-president of the resort's Golf Club.

Pelican Hill encompasses 504 acres which includes 80 acres of protected habitat. The Irvine Co. resort was also recently ranked as the best nationwide by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler.
