Rodents Close Newport's Great Mex

Rodent droppings found by county health inspectors caused Great Mex in Newport Beach to close temporarily earlier this month.

Great Mex in Newport Beach was closed earlier this month by county health officials after inspectors found rodent droppings in several areas of the restaurant.
During a routine inspection on Aug. 8, Great Mex was cited with one major health violation for rodent infestation. According to the health report, inspectors found rodent droppings on shelves, on a can of tomatoes, in beverage boxes and other areas.
Great Mex reopened the next day after a follow-up county inspection.
