'Severe' Crash Injures 3; Wrecks Cars In Newport Beach

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Three people were hospitalized in a two-car crash in Newport Beach this weekend, authorities said.
The crash was reported Saturday afternoon, when officers were dispatched to MacArthur Boulevard and Bison Avenue in reference to a "severe" crash.
According to police, the impact of the crash caused one vehicle to strike two trees and a light pole before coming to rest in a drainage area. The other car also sustained significant damage when it collided with a tree.

Three injured people were taken to local area hospitals, police said. Their current statuses were not immediately known.
