ANAHEIM (CNS) — A 30-year-old man was behind bars Friday on suspicion of gunning down a robbery victim in Anaheim last year.

Brandon Norwood of Anaheim was arrested Thursday on suspicion of killing 30-year-old Oscar Humberto Chunmichicog, said Anaheim police Sgt. Jeff Mundy.

Chunmichicog was walking home from a store when he was fatally shot in the 1800 block of West Dogwood Avenue during a robbery about 3:30 p.m. March 3 of last year, Mundy said.
"By all accounts, it was unprovoked," Mundy said.

The victim, who worked in construction, had migrated here from Guatemala in 2007, took classes to learn English, earned his high school diploma and studied to become an electrician, Mundy said.

The arrest was the result of "a year's worth of detective work, witness interviews and scouring surveillance tapes," Mundy said. Police also have some DNA evidence, he added.
