Two Newport Beach Defendants Arrested On DUI Suspicion

The two people were arrested following a sting on Monday targeting drunken or drugged drivers.

Two defendants who got behind the wheel following their court hearings on DUI citations were arrested on suspicion of driving on a suspended license, a sheriff’s lieutenant said today.

The deputies were assigned to the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach for a sting Monday that targeted defendants in drunken or drugged driving cases who continued to drive even when they were not allowed to do so, according to Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock.

Investigators identified six DUI defendants who had rides, Hallock said. But Shelley Anne Christensen, 44, and Eric Merin, 33, were issued misdemeanor traffic citations for driving on a suspended license, and their vehicles were impounded for a month, Hallock said.
