Vegetation Fire In Newport Coast Under Control: OCFA (UPDATE)

The fire was brought under control in less than two hours.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Authorities in Orange County say the vegetation fire on the 73 Toll Road in Newport Coast is under control, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

About 80 firefighters from OCFA, Newport Beach and Laguna Beach responded to the scene. The California Highway Patrol shut down the southbound 73 toll lanes. The road has since reopened.

The fire broke out around 3:30 p.m. and was under control by 5:15 p.m.

No injuries have been reported. Authorities said they would determine the acreage and cause of the fire later.
