📰 News we're reading

• Nipomo Will Increase Water Rates Despite Community Protest (keyt.com) — Nipomo residents will see their water bills rise about 40% after the Community Services District board approved a rate hike despite hundreds of written and spoken protests. Only about 500 formal objections were filed, far short of the 2,000-plus required under state law to block the increase. Officials cite rising maintenance, repairs, and technology costs, while locals say the move strains already tight budgets.

• PG&E to conduct drone inspections over parts of Central Coast (ksby.com) — Nipomo residents may notice PG&E drones flying overhead during the day over the next three weeks as crews photograph power lines and poles in hard-to-reach areas. The utility says inspections won’t affect power, are focused only on PG&E equipment, and aim to catch problems before winter storms cause outages.
