405 Freeway SigAlert: Police Standoff Jams Traffic In North Hills
A suspect held police at bay in a standoff that lasted nearly two hours Wednesday morning at the Nordhoff Street offramp.
LOS ANGELES, CA — The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert for the San Diego (405) Freeway in the North Hills due to police activity Wednesday morning.
According to the CHP, the Nordhoff Street offramps from the northbound side of the freeway remain closed while police tried to arrest a felony suspect who refused to surrender. According to the LAPD, the suspect stopped the vehicle in the roadway and refused to exit for nearly two hours Wednesday morning
The southbound lanes of the freeway remained open, but northbound drivers were advised to find alternate routes. As of 9:20 a.m., the CHP estimated that the closure could last hours. By noon, police reported that the suspect was taken into custody.
