A Yoga Instructor at 90? Now That's a Stretch

An instructor for more than 40 decades, Fran Miller continues to teach Hatha yoga in the San Fernando Valley.

While most adults at age 50 start getting serious about retirement planning, Fran Miller kicked off a lifelong career--more than 40 years ago.

About to turn 91, her age hasn't slowed down her commitment to teaching yoga in the San Fernando Valley.

Miller was recently profiled by the Los Angeles Times and recalled how she fell into a world that revolves around stretching and breathing.

She was a widower when she came across an ad in a paper about a yoga class in Van Nuys led by a rabbi.

Miller started to fill in for the rabbi when he was away and eventually took over the course when he retired. Private sessions followed as well.

"It just grew and grew," she told the Times.

Now, she teaches Hatha yoga courses for nearly all ages three times a week at Balboa Sports Center and Studio City Recreation Center.
