Backyard Tree Fire Stopped from Damaging Home

Firefighters manage to put out a small blaze Tuesday night before it spread to a house.

Firefighters put out a tree blaze in a private backyard Tuesday night before it had a chance to spread to a house, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The tree on the 12400 block of Killion St. made contact with high voltage power lines, igniting flames that were reported at 7:34 p.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Shawn Lenske.

Forty-four firefighters managed to prevent the blaze from reaching any nearby structures and knockdown was declared in about 20 minutes, Lenske said. No injuries were reported.
