Book Tour for Kalman & Leopold stops in L.A. this April
Richard K. Lowy Brings a Heart-Wrenching Holocaust Tale to Light with Kalman & Leopold: Surviving Mengele's Auschwitz

Earlier this year marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, a reminder of the resilience of Holocaust survivors. In Kalman & Leopold: Surviving Mengele’s Auschwitz, author Richard K. Lowy shares the incredible true story of his father, Leopold, and his friend Kalman—two boys who endured Josef Mengele’s brutal experiments and found strength in their unbreakable bond.
Forced to serve SS guards in Auschwitz, the boys relied on each other to survive. After liberation, they were separated for 56 years, believing the other lost. Their reunion is a testament to perseverance and the power of friendship.
With Holocaust survivors’ voices fading, Kalman & Leopold ensures their stories live on, confronting rising antisemitism and preserving history for future generations.
