Downed Power Lines at 170 Offramp Repaired

Utilities crews repaired downed and sparking power lines that fell on the Hollywood (170) Freeway in North Hollywood Saturday, forcing the closure of a freeway offramp, the California Highway Patrol said.

A SigAlert was issued at 9:35 a.m. closing the Oxnard Avenue offramp to the northbound freeway until further notice.

Los Angeles city firefighters were concerned that fences and guardrails on the eastern side of the 170 freeway in that area may be electrified.

The CHP was notified of the downed lines at 9:18 a.m. They reported that a high power line was down in the number three lane of the freeway, touching a fence adjacent to the roadway.

A Department of Water and Power crew was called to the scene at 9:40 a.m.
