Krekorian, City Officials and Community to Break Ground on New Pocket Park

The groundbreaking will herald the transformation of a dusty DWP water yard into a new slice of green space.

Councilmember Paul Krekorian, with officials from the Department of Water and Power and Recreation and Parks, along with community leaders, will break ground on a new pocket park in North Hollywood Thursday at 9 a.m.

The groundbreaking will herald the transformation of a dusty DWP water yard into a new slice of green space – with benches, playground equipment, and more - at the corner of Fulton Street and Vanowen Avenue (map: http://g.co/maps/vthnp), slated to open later this year. When open, the park will continue adding to a greatly improved intersection that now includes new landscaping, trails, benches and more at all four corners.

Note: The entire intersection of Fulton Street and Vanowen Avenue has undergone a stark transformation, revitalizing the region and introducing a stream of developments that have dramatically improved the community. Near the southwest corner, new landscaping, benches and fencing along the Tujunga Wash invite residents to explore urban trails. Across the street, a relatively new “Welcome to Valley Glen” sign, as well as new landscaping, greets residents and drivers while L.A. County workers continue making a stream of improvements on the northwest corner.
