LaBonge and Krekorian: 'Mansionization,' Earthquake Preparedness and Graffiti Tipsters

Here's a quick rundown of what your recently re-elected City Council members are doing for their communities.

Councilman Paul Krekorian, like , is interested in graffiti. You can report graffiti using the Krekorian Android or iPhone apps, which are available by clicking here. The Los Angeles Police Department is  offering a reward of $1,000 to anyone with information about suspected graffiti vandals. You can find out about reward eligibility on the city's Board of Public Works website.

Krekorian has also put the proposed new football stadium high on his agenda. According to the Council District 2 newsletter, he has said that the potential costs of the stadium proposed for Los Angeles should be scrutinized.

"Everybody likes the idea of having the NFL here, and it would be great to have them back, but at what cost? For me, if the cost is a dime of taxpayers' money, then it's too much," said Krekorian in the newsletter.

Meanwhile, Councilman Tom LaBonge is focusing on the "mansionization" of Los Angeles and an ordinance to keep out-of-scale developments from taking over the landscape. According to his district's newsletter, LaBonge was responsible for introducing the original motion in 2006, the Baseline Mansionization Ordinance. LaBonge's newletter notes that the City Council voted it in on March 18, putting an end to "huge homes on small lots."

LaBonge is also making earthquake preparedness a priority. According to his newsletter, he recently participated in a news conference on the south steps of City Hall to talk about the issue. He was joined by experts on the issue and members of the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Los Angeles Emergency Management Department.
