Lankershim Citibank Closing Friday

The branch is closing to make way for a mixed-use development.

The Citibank branch on the ground floor of the Commonwealth Building at 5077 Lankershim Blvd. is closing for business Friday to make way for a 5-story mixed-use development.

The bank is the last remaining tenant in the structure, though property owner Chandler Pratt & Parnters told Patch in September that demolition may be a year away for undisclosed reasons.

Executive Vice President Todd Pratt said the impending 136-unit apartment complex with 14,000 square feet of retail on the ground floor remains in a "holding pattern" for now.

Most Citibank employees at the Lankershim Branch will be given a chance to transfer to other locations, said Catherine Pulley Director of public affairs and external communications.

Though built in the 1960s, the Commonwealth Building failed to win historic monument status from the Cultural Heritage Commission.
