Miles for Melanoma 5K Run/Walk Happening at Universal Backlot Sunday
The route will take participants right past some of the most famous movie and television sets of all time.
If you like to jog, like to support good causes and would like to see the Universal Studios backlot up close and personal, this is your lucky weekend.
The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) and Pale Girl SPEAKS are hosting a at 7:30 a.m. on the Universal Studios backlot, and anyone who wants to register is welcome to participate.
According to spokesperson with MRF, quite a few celebrities will be participating in the event, including Jason Biggs, Molly Sims, Fred Savage and Kelly Martin. The route for the run/walk will take participants right past some of the most famous movie and television sets of all time, including the Bates Motel from Psycho and Wisteria Lane Desperate Housewives. The cost is $35.

MRF is the largest independent, national organization devoted to melanoma in the United States, accoridng to a press release. Pale Girl SPEAKS, founded by melanoma activist Hillary Fogelson, is an online resource providing practical advice and tips for living safely in the sun.
The run/walk will take place on the backlot of the studio where Hillary's husband, Adam Fogelson, serves as the Chairman of the motion picture group, and both will be making some opening remarks to the participants. Participants will also receive sunscreen samples and educational information about melanoma prevention and treatment. The indie band The 88 will also perform at the awards ceremony.
