In other meeting news, Ghazarian gave the assembled board members and local residents an update on plans for a new pocket park on the northeast corner of Fulton Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard. Ghazarian answered the concerns of audience members, confirming that it "is an area where some gang activity does go on." He said that it would be a priority to make the park feel safe and comfortable. To that end, said Ghazarian, the park will be closed at night to reduce the potential problem of gang members loitering there. Although he did not give a date for the park's completion, he said that significant progress should be made by the end of the year.
