NoHo Man Accused Of Severely Hurting Son, Charged With Assault

LOS ANGELES, CA — A North Hollywood man was charged Friday in connection with the assault of his young son. The assault left the boy with severe injuries, authorities said.
Cesar Daniel Cabrera Jr., 21, reportedly attacked his son, who is under 5 years old, on March 22, according to a release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
Cabrera is charged with one felony count each of assault on a child "becoming comatose or paralyzed and child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury," officials wrote.

The charges include special allegations of personal infliction of great boldly injury to a child under the age of 5 years old and felony offense while out on bail, the DA's office said.
“The physical abuse suffered by this young boy is horrifying. That the alleged perpetrator is the child’s father is unconscionable," District Attorney Gascón said. “The harm inflicted in this case warrants that special allegations be filed. My office is committed to protecting our children by holding accountable anyone who abuses them.”

Cabrera will be arraigned Sept. 13 in the Los Angeles County Superior Court. The case is under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
