Detectives are investigating a fatal crash in the Valley Glen area in which a motorist struck and killed a pedestrian, a police officer said.
The crash, which occurred in the area of Victory Boulevard and Coldwater Canyon Avenue, was reported to police about 4:30 a.m., said Los Angeles police officer W. McConnell of the Valley Traffic Division.

The male victim died at the scene, according to McConnell. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
McConnell said the motorist did not leave the scene and detectives were en route to conduct the death investigation.
