Golfing With the LAPD and Celebs
Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation hopes to raise $350,000 to aid officers' families.
The Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation (LAPMF) will hold its 40th annual fundraiser Saturday to benefit the families of officers killed or injured in the line of duty.
Alice Sturdy of the LAPMF said the foundation pays for the funerals of officers killed in the line of duty, and puts their children through college, as well as paying for counseling services. In addition, it helps officers who are injured or experiencing long-term illnesses.
The golf tournament, which is being organized by the LAPD's North Hollywood Divivsion, is set to take place Saturday at the Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes. Gates open at 8 a.m. The opening ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m., and golfers tee off at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased on event day or online by clicking here.

"Every year, we have approximately 130 to 140 people golfing," said Sturdy. "Each foursome consists of a celebrity, two paying sponsors and a police officer from the LAPD."
