UPDATE: Video of Simpson Avenue Fire

Whether the fire was related to the spate of arson attacks in the area is unknown.

A fire damaged a North Hollywood apartment building today, and two people who breathed smoke were taken to a hospital, a fire department spokesman said.

Firefighters sent to 6550 N. Simpson Ave. at 6:32 a.m. had the fire out by about 7 a.m., Matt Spence of the Los Angeles Fire Department said. Paramedics took two people who suffered smoke inhalation to a hospital in fair condition, he said. Spence did not know how the fire started or if it could have been related to a spate of arson fires in the area overnight the past two days.
