The Stages New Musical Theatre Festival Arrives in NoHo

The Chicago festival comes to North Hollywood for the first time.

The will present the opening night of the Stages New Musical Theatre Festival Friday at the in NoHo.

The Festival is being held in California for the first time, after spending 15 years in Chicago.

Each performance features concert readings of new musicals currently in development, according to the Academy's artistic director Elise Dewsberry.

The show will continue over the weekend, both at the and at the company's own space at 5628 Vineland Avenue.

The performance tonight at 8:00 p.m. will be followed Saturday by simultaneous shows at both spaces at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m; and on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Dewsberry told Patch that 100 people are involved in the festival, including actors, directors, music directors and writers.
