Vineland Avenue Walkway Gets a Touch-up
From Magnolia Boulevard to Camarillo Street, the sidewalk may look a bit more roomy now.
Overgrown vegetation along Vineland Avenue near the NoHo Arts District was recently cleared out to restore a wide walkway.
Southern California Edison, which owns a few towers near the plants, carried out the cleanup on the major street from Magnolia Boulevard to Camarillo Street.
The effort started with the Mid-Town NoHo Neighborhood Council's Beautification Committee reporting the issue to city hall, said Board of Directors Members Bob Peppermuller.

"The Vineland walkway is our doing also, but we had to get horsepower from [L.A. City Councilman Paul] Krekorian's deputy (Maral Habeshian) to get Edison to clean up," Peppermuller said. "The square footage and industrial tools required is too much for us to take on ourselves...It was a jungle before."
He added that the cleanup was part of a bigger spruce-up project undertaken by the committee.

Other places that look notably cleaner now include:
- The median on Tujunga Avenue just north of the Camarillo and Riverside Drive intersection; opposite to the northbound 170 Freeway on-ramp.
- The median on Colfax Avenue where the street ends at the Victory and Lankershim boulevards intersection.
