What's Going on at Vineland and Chandler?

A lot full of construction equipment may indicate a development project at the site, but it's actually serving another purpose.

Alerted by a construction trailer, a Patch reader asked what was happening on a corner at Chandler Boulevard and Vineland Avenue.

The sight of a bulldozer may indicate some construction was going down, but the truth reveals that not much is taking place at that intersection.

Instead, the small lot is the equipment yard for the ongoing Magnolia Boulevard widening project taking place a few blocks away.

According to the city, the effort consists of "widening by seven feet the southern half of the section of Magnolia Boulevard from Cahuenga Boulevard to Vineland Avenue by demolishing/removing the existing curb, gutter, sidewalk, pull boxes, and traffic signal equipment; sandblasting traffic striping."

The project is expected to last through next year. Click here for more information.
