LAPD: 3 Juveniles Arrested For Convenience Store Robbery

LAPD Mission Area detectives have arrested three juveniles for the robbery of a Mission Hills convenience store.

MISSION HILLS -- The Los Angeles Police Department’s Mission Area detectives have arrested three juveniles for Robbery at a convenience store.

According to the LAPD, the three subjects entered a local convenience store located on the 10600 block of Sepulveda Boulevard around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21. All three males walked behind the counter, one of them armed with a hammer ordered the clerk to open both cash registers.

Simultaneously, Mission Area patrol officers pulled into the parking lot and observed the robbery in progress through the glass windows, according to the police department.

Officers established a perimeter around the location and contained the subjects within the business. Police then attempted to communicate with the individuals who refused to surrender, according to the LAPD.

"As officers continued to negotiate with the subjects, they broke through the fire escape which led to the roof," the LAPD said in a news release. "The subjects exited the building and began to flee by jumping on adjacent rooftops."

"Mission officers expanded the perimeter to ensure the subjects did not flee the area and requested the response of Metropolitan Division K-9 Units," the LAPD said. "Upon the arrival of police K-9 units, a foot search was conducted, and all three subjects were apprehended."

The three subjects were all identified as juveniles. All were arrested, booked for robbery and are currently at Sylmar Juvenile Hall, police said Feb.

All money and property that were taken, was recovered as was the hammer used as a weapon.
