Police Shoot Armed Suspect In Northridge: LAPD

An armed suspect was shot by police Sunday in the driveway of a home in Northridge.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — An armed suspect was shot by police Sunday in the driveway of a home in Northridge, authorities said.

Officers responded to a call of a fight at a home in the 8900 block of Balcom Avenue, north of Parthenia Street and just west of White Oak Avenue, at about 2 a.m. Sunday and encountered a suspect in the driveway armed with a firearm, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

"An officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was struck by gunfire and transported by LAFD to a local hospital, where he is in stable condition," according to a police statement. "No officers or other community members were injured during the incident."

Police said the firearm the suspect was allegedly armed with was recovered at the scene by detectives.
