Novato Child Molestation Suspect Arrested

NOVATO, CA — A 65-year-old man was arrested last week on suspicion of child molestation, the Novato Police Department said.

Leslie Michael Church,65 of Novato, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the July 6 incident, police Sgt. Alan Bates said.

The victim in this case is a child under the age of 10 according to police.

Church was arrested on suspicion of oral copulation of a child and aggravated sexual assault of a child, Bates said.

Church was booked at the Marin County Jail, police said. As of Monday, he was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail according to the Marin County inmate locator website.

The incident occurred the evening of July 6 at a West Novato residence, Bates said.

The victim and their parents went to the police department to report the incident immediately afterward, police said. The investigation continued overnight while Investigators gathered evidence, statements and information, Bates said.
