Novato City Council Resumes In-Person Meetings

The Novato Planning Commission also plans to resume in-person meetings under the same hybrid model.

NOVATO, CA — Novato is taking another big step towards normalcy.

After more than a year of virtual meetings, the Novato City Council next week will resume in-person meetings.

Starting at its next scheduled meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m., the council will meet under a hybrid model in which members of the public will be able to provide public comments during the meeting in person or virtually via Zoom.

Comments can be submitted online once the agenda is posted and until 3 p.m. on the day of meeting.

“The City’s ‘eComment’ and virtual live participation options have been a great benefit to keeping our community engaged on City topics that matter most to them,” City Clerk Laura McDowall said in a statement.

“We’re pleased to be able to offer this hybrid model to continue to provide flexibility for community participation.”

The Novato Planning Commission also plans to resume in-person meetings under this same hybrid model.

All other Commissions, Committees and Boards will resume in-person only meetings.

Instructions on how to participate and provide public comment at the city’s public meetings are available in the meeting agendas that are posted at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting. The instructions can be viewed here.

In alignment with state guidance, unvaccinated individuals attending in-person are required to wear face coverings.

The city will continue to closely monitor state directives and reevaluate or adjust in-person meetings if necessary.
