
Loud booms will be heard in the North County this weekend as U.S. Marines at Camp Pendleton conduct mine-clearing exercises using 1,750 pounds of linked C-4 plastic explosives, base officials announced today.
The exercises will run from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday, according to Camp Pendleton's public affairs office.
Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sounds of explosions may be amplified up to 50 miles away, a base statement said.Residents with questions about the increased noise may call base officials at (760) 725-0357.
