Children with Autism Learn to Catch Waves

Instructors from the Carlsbad-based Surfin Fire surf school volunteer their time twice a year to teach kids who have autism from The Country School in San Marcos.

About thirty students who have autism from The Country School in San Marcos spent last Thursday riding waves in Oceanside.

Instructors from the Carlsbad-based Surfin Fire surf school volunteer their time twice a year to teach kids from the school.

The camp is in its sixth year. Surfin Fire owner Jon Peterson is also a firefighter with the Encinitas Fire Department.
