Keim, Weiss Lead In Oceanside City Council Election: Results
Ten candidates ran for two open seats on the Oceanside City Council.
OCEANSIDE, CA — Oceanside residents chose which of 10 candidates should fill two open seats on the City Council in Tuesday's general election.
Incumbent Ryan Keim faced candidates Bill Batchelor, Kellie Davis, Shari Mackin, Amber Newman and David Ian Zernik for the District 3 seat.
Incumbent Mayor Peter Weiss faced candidates Michelle Gomez, Jane Marshall and Morgan McCray for the District 4 seat.

As of Wednesday, Keim held a narrow lead over Mackin for the District 3 seat, followed by Newman, Davis, Batchelor and Zernik, according to unofficial vote totals from the San Diego County Registrar of Voters. Weiss held a a sizable lead over Marshall, Gomez and McCray for the District 4 seat.
The election of the District 3 and District 4 council members complete the city's transition from at-large council elections to district elections that started in 2018.

It was unclear how many votes remained to be tallied, and with the prevalence of mail ballots in Tuesday's election, it could be days or weeks before final numbers are determined.
There are still 370,000 ballots left to be counted, County Registrar of Voters Michael Vu announced Wednesday, but the county will not release additional results until 5 p.m. Thursday.
