Oceanside Firefighters Douse Fire at Duplex

Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire at a duplex Saturday night, keeping it from spreading to adjacent homes, officials said.

The fire was reported at 9:49 pm in the 2800 block of Valley Vista Way. Firefighters found a garage fire that was rapidly moving into the common attic of both units of the duplex.

Firefighters prevented the fire from extending to nearby homes and limited the damage to one of the two units.

Four adults and one dog were displaced by the fire and were being assisted by the Red Cross.

Although the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials said the fire appeared to be accidental.
