Oceanside to Reopen Swim Center With 2013-14 Budget Surplus
The general fund of FY2013-14 is about $5 million higher than the fund for the previous year.

With the Oceanside City Council's approval of a $121 million general fund last week, which includes a surplus of about $463,000, City officials announced plans to reopen the Marshall Street Swim Club for summer months.
According to U-T San Diego, city officials estimate that the cost of reopening the swimming pool, which was shuttered two years ago in cost-saving measures, would be about $60,000.
“This is a very critical program for the residents of South Oceanside,” said Councilwoman Esther Sanchez at the meeting.
The general fund of FY2013-14 is about $5 million higher than the fund for the previous year. Part of the increased budget is due to increasing property and sales tax revenues, as well as state funds distributed after the dissolution of the city's redevelopment agency.
