Police Arrest 3, Issue 15 Citations at Overnight Sobriety Checkpoint

Officers saw 318 drivers during the checkpoint on Coast Highway south of Eaton Street.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and 15 others were issued citations during a sobriety checkpoint on Pacific Coast Highway south of Eaton Street conducted from 9:30 p.m. Friday until 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Officers saw 318 drivers during the checkpoint. Eight were cited for being unlicensed.

"Over the course of the past three years, DUI collisions have claimed eight lives and resulted in 164 injury crashes harming 258 of our friends and neighbors," Oceanside police Sgt. Kenneth Gow said.
