Mother Accused Of Stabbing 11-Year-Old Son At OC Motel: Police

An 11-year-old child was found dead at a motel in Santa Ana, authorities said Wednesday.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A mother was in custody Wednesday after she reportedly called authorities from an Orange County hotel and confessed to killing her 11-year-old son.

The 48-year-old woman, who was not identified, called police at about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday from the La Quinta Inn at 2721 Hotel Terrace, near the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

The woman had ingested unknown substances when police located her and she was taken to a hospital, where she had stable vital signs as of noon Wednesday, police said.

The child suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the woman's last known residence was in Irvine. It was unclear what led to the stabbing.

As of noon Wednesday, officers and detectives were at the scene investigating the incident as a homicide.
