2 Minors In 'Critical Condition' When Scooter Slams Tesla: Police

The juveniles were riding on a motorized scooter without helmets when their scooter crashed into a Tesla in Orange, police said.

ORANGE, CA — Two minors were in critical condition Wednesday after the motorized scooter they were riding on crashed into a Tesla in the City of Orange, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday on Hewes Street in the number one lane, according to the Orange Police Department.

The motorized scooter, carrying two male teenagers, was traveling south on Hewes Street on the wrong side of the rode when it crashed into the front passenger's side of a Tesla.

The minors were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash, police said. They were taken to an area hospital in critical condition, police said.

According to authorities, the driver of the Tesla remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Drugs and alcohol did not immediately appear to be a factor in the crash.
