360 Lose Jobs; OC Headquarters Close For Liberated Brands

COSTA MESA, CA — Orange County-based Liberated Brands, which had a portfolio that included several well-known names in the surfing world, closed its Costa Mesa headquarters last week, causing hundreds to lose their jobs, according to state records.
A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification said over 360 employees were affected by the closure.
The Liberated Brands portfolio included Volcom, Billabong, Quiksilver, Spyder, RVCA, Roxy, Honolua and Captain Fin, according to Liberated’s LinkedIn page.

“The company is actively transitioning its brand licenses to new license holders,” Liberated said last week in a statement, according to The Orange County Register. “We are encouraged to see that many of our talented employees are already interviewing with these new license holders as part of this management transition, ensuring continuity for the brands and their success moving forward.”
