Adopt A Cat Free Of Charge, Thanks To Orange County Supervisor

OC Supervisor Lisa Bartlett is sponsoring adoption fees for all cats, birds, bunnies, hamsters and guinea pigs through Christmas Eve.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Are you looking to make the holiday merry and bright for you and an animal in need? This December, Orange County Supervisor Lisa Bartlett is sponsoring adoption fees for all cats, bunnies, hamster, birds and guinea pigs living at the OC Animal Care Shelter in Tustin.

Through Christmas Eve, residents who adopt a pet will have waived adoption fees, which includes free vaccination, a certificate for a free vet exam, anti-parasitic treatment, a spay or neuter for their newly-adopted friend and a microchip.

OC Animal Care is hosting a similar promotion for dogs at the shelter weighing 25 pounds of more. Residents who adopt a dog weighing 25 pounds or more will also have their adoption fees waived.

According to the shelter, 95 percent of available dogs at OC Animal Care are large breeds, and nearly a third of available dogs, including those with longest lengths of stay, have medical or behavioral challenges impacting their ability to be adopted.

"In November, Fifth District Supervisor Lisa Bartlett sponsored adoption fees for all shelter animals," an OC Animal Care statement said. "Through Sup. Bartlett's generous donation, community members opened their hearts and homes to 117 dogs that were 25 pounds and over. With such successful adoption rates, OC Animal Care is excited to continue waiving adoption fees to highlight these dogs."
