1. Three O.C. beer companies won gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival 2022, according to the Beer Festival's website. Their winning entries were: "Flesh to Stone," a wood-and barrel-aged strong beer by Bottle Logic Brewing in Anaheim, "Full Malted Jacket," a Scotch ale by the Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Huntington Beach, and "Super Tonic," a coffee stout or porter, by the Docent Brewing in San Juan Capistrano. 2. Join in the fun at the Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin Patch in Orange. The pumpkin patch is right behind the Irvine Park Railroad. 3. A shoutout to our new Orange County Fire Authority captains. With their families by their sides, the fire captains were promoted to new positions yesterday. 4. O.C. Parks shares a story about O.C. history: In Newport Harbor, a yacht exploded under mysterious circumstances in 1947. Local financier Walter Overell and his wife Beulah were killed, and their daughter and her fiancé were arrested on suspicion of murder. Scandalous love letters were published, and when a "not guilty" verdict was read, "a public frenzy ensued as the couple walked free." And it all happened here, in Orange County!
