Here are the top 3 stories today in Orange County:

  1. Did you hear about this incredible story? Two best friends in Orange County donated their kidneys to a couple in need. Orange County resident Ron Morales was told that he needed a kidney transplant, and both he and his wife, Chris, "knew they needed to act fast." When Ron's best friend, Brad Thompson, heard that Ron needed a kidney, "he stepped up and offered his own," KTLA reported. And that's not all. Seven years earlier, Ron's wife Chris was in the same situation. Her best friend and Brad's wife, Debbie, "offered her own." (Orange County Patch)
  2. What's happening with the downtown Streetcar construction project in Santa Ana? Find out about and track construction activities, lane closures, parking restrictions, property access and more at the OC Streetcar Public Meeting on Thursday, Sept. 29, from 6 to 7 p.m at the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center, 1000 E. Santa Ana Boulevard, Suite 100. There will be a brief presentation and a Q & A session in both English and Spanish. (New Santa Ana)
  3. Cruisin' for a Cure, a procession of classic cars, lined up Saturday morning at the Orange County fairgrounds in Costa Mesa. The 21st annual classic car event returned in full force after a pandemic break, with 3,000 vehicles. The event raised funds and awareness for prostate cancer prevention, offering free prostate-screening blood tests, and was billed as the “largest one-day car show on the West Coast.” (Los Angeles Times)
