Body Found In Orange County River On New Year's Day

Just before noon on Thursday, a 911 caller reported a person in the Santa Ana River bed.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA — A body was recovered from the Santa Ana River on New Year’s Day following a multi-agency water rescue response, authorities said.

Just before noon on Thursday, a 911 caller reported a person in the Santa Ana River bed near the intersection of Warner Avenue and Harbor Boulevard, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

The Orange County Fire Authority, along with the Fountain Valley Fire Department and the Costa Mesa Fire Department, dispatched approximately 60 firefighters to the scene for a swift water rescue.

Fire officials said the person was in moving water and traveled about two miles downstream.

Swift water rescue firefighters later pulled a deceased person from the Santa Ana River in the city of Fountain Valley, authorities said.
