- Will community gardens be the new town squares in Orange County? Community gardens are popular in cities like Anaheim, Santa Ana, Huntington Beach and Fullerton. They're outdoor spaces where local residents, who "live in apartments or condos with a small patio or balcony" can have a green space outside where they can grow and harvest organic vegetables, and donate a portion of the harvest to charity, said Anna Dreifus, a Huntington Beach resident and president of its community garden. Dreifus added that community gardens are "a natural social space where gardening beginners and experts work together." (Voice of OC)
- Who is financing Orange County politicians? Regardless of who wins on Tuesday, it's now easier to find out who is funding candidates in Orange County, thanks to Chapman University students and the Voice of OC. They evaluated "all 34 Orange County cities’ websites" and summed up which cities make it easy for residents to find the source of candidate financing. Find your city here: (Voice of OC)
- Buses will be running on Monday and Tuesday to allow people to vote, union leaders said. Teamsters "lifted the picket lines" so commuters "could get to the polls on Election Day," as talks continued over the days-long OCTA transportation workers' strike. Eric Jimenez, secretary-treasurer of Teamsters Local 952, told City News Service on Sunday that if no agreement is reached by Wednesday, the union "likely will hit the picket lines again," adding that talks are going "pretty slow."
