IRVINE, CA — A police department in Orange County spent over $150,000 on a Tesla Cybertruck, according to reports.
The Irvine Police Department posted on X in July that the vehicle was “coming soon.”
Public records obtained by Forbes showed the department opted for $20,000 in customizations for the Cybertruck, the outlet reported last week.

The futuristic-looking electric truck has served as both a status symbol and a punchline in the months since it was launched.
The Cybertruck bought by Irvine police will be “a cool showpiece” and part of the agency's Drug Abuse Resistance Education unit, Forbes reported, citing Sgt. Karie Davies, who said the truck was paid for out of the city’s fleet funds account.
