- A Huntington Beach jewelry store owner exchanged gunfire with robbers, and a male juvenile has been arrested. Detectives confirmed that a male juvenile was arrested on suspicion of robbery, the Huntington Beach Police Department watch commander told City News Service. The incident happened on Saturday afternoon at about 4 p.m. at Isabella's Jewelry in Huntington Harbour Mall at Algonquin Street and Davenport Drive, the department reported on Twitter. - Was there an oil leak off the coast of Orange County this weekend? A possible sheen was reported near two oil platforms Friday night. The report Friday was of a possible "two to three mile long sludge streak near the platforms," known as Elly and Ellen." There were also reports of dead fish, and seabirds eating the fish, Orange County Board of Supervisors member Katrina Foley tweeted said in a Saturday morning in the tweet. On Saturday morning, officials tweeted there were no signs of an oil leak. The U.S. Coast Guard and Orange County Sheriff’s Department Harbor Patrol were unable to locate any oil, dead fish or sludge. Foley noted that an officer walking the beach Saturday looking for tarballs had not found any.(KTLA Los Angeles)
- An earthquake rumbled through portions of SoCal Saturday morning. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 3.6 earthquake struck on Saturday near Mira Loma. The shaking was felt around 10:05 a.m. in portions of Southern California in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. The epicenter was near the 60 and 15 Freeways, and had a depth of just over 11 kilometers, according to the agency. No damage was reported. (Orange County Register via Facebook)
